: A Design That Balances Softness and Support

The purpose of a dog carrier is mobility—but the one who bears its weight is the owner. To reduce the load concentrated on the wearer’s shoulders, SSOOOK focused on the structure of the shoulder pad.

While we studied the ergonomic design of premium baby carriers to improve wearing comfort, we found clear structural differences between baby carriers and dog carriers. Baby carriers typically distribute weight through a waist belt and are designed for loads of around 5–6 kg. In contrast, dog carriers transfer weight directly to the shoulders and must support loads of up to 10 kg or more.

Applying a baby carrier structure as-is under these conditions can cause the load to concentrate at the center of the shoulder pad, increasing discomfort. That’s why SSOOOK went beyond simple cushioning and designed a shoulder pad structure specifically focused on effective weight distribution.

 



 


The result is SSOOOK’s proprietary shoulder pad system, SSPS™ (SSOOOK Soft Pad System), designed with a multi-layer structure that distributes weight evenly across the entire surface.

Air mesh, padding, and multi-density foam are layered step by step to achieve a balance that is neither too soft nor too firm. This structure spreads pressure that would normally concentrate on a single point across the whole pad, allowing loads of over 10 kg to feel significantly lighter.

The outer layer features a soft texture to minimize stimulation to the shoulder muscles, while the internal structure provides firm support to prevent sagging and maintain stability during movement.
